Deep Discounts in Kokomo

Kokomo Buyers Find Deep Discounts
Every where you look in Kokomo there are “deals” to be had! And deals aren’t confined to Christmas sales at the mall! There are even great deals on big-ticket items like houses, cars, big screen TVs, etc.
But before you plunk down your hard earned money, you really must ask yourself…
“Will this REALLY make me happier?”
Not for just a few days or a few weeks. But will it make your life more enjoyable for months or years in the future?
Karen Blumenthal had an excellent article in the Wall Street Journal earlier this month about the relationship between getting a “deal” and real, lasting happiness. Researchers have found that real, lasting happiness comes from spending time with family and friends and spending time in enjoyable activities.
Blumenthal identified ways “deals” and long-term happiness might go hand-in-hand with some big ticket items:
- Buying a Home. The great prices we are seeing in Kokomo and low interest rates are a great chance for first-time buyers to buy a lot of house for their money. It’s also an ideal time for trading up to a larger homes in more expensive neighborhoods. It’s important to think of your move as one that will improve your quality of life. It needs to fit within your budget. First and foremost you need to look at your home as shelter, not as an investment.
- Remodeling. Home building in Kokomo is almost at a stand-still. So contractors are looking for work. You might be able to get work done quickly and you may even be able to get a better deal than you could in the past.Again, it’s important to think of improving your quality of life, not on re-sale value. (As a realtor, I caution you to make sure your improvements are in keeping with your neighborhood. You don’t want to over-improve your home.)
- Buying a Car. We all know car sales have plunged and so have prices. Dealers are offering huge incentives to move their inventory – on both new and used cars.Be sure to buy a new car only if you really need one! And don’t make the mistake of trading a very good “gas guzzler” for a new, fuel efficient model. Your new, fancy fuel efficient will be in a junk yard long before you can reach the break-even point of paying for it!
- Other Big Ticket Items. TVs, computers, appliances, etc. These are all items that are best purchased when you have the cash. They lose value quickly and are expensive to finance.
Bottom Line: Weigh every purchase! Ask yourself whether it will add to your long-term happiness.
