From the day we moved to Kokomo, everyone said, “Go to Marty’s – best steaks around!”
I don’t order beef anywhere, so I can’t attest to the greatness of their steaks; but my husband claims they are excellent. And I have no trouble finding something great to eat!
Marty’s Pub is located in Converse, which is about 20 minutes from Kokomo. As you can tell from the picture, it’s nothing fancy – inside or out! But it has great food at very reasonable prices.
They have a wide variety of choices on their menu and everything is available for carry-out. Here is just a sampling:
- Appetizers: Small Delux Nachos ($3.00), Shrimp Cocktail ($5.95), Onion Rings ($3.50) and my favorite – Charcoal Shrimp ($7.95)
- Sandwiches – lots of sandwiches: priced from $1.75 for Grilled Cheese to $4.00 for a double cheeseburger. My favorite is the Breaded Tenderloin for $2.75. (For an additional $1.75 you can make any of these a basket with fries and a side dish.)
- Entrees: Ham Dinner ($9.95), Ribeye Steak – 13 oz ($14.95), Chicken Oscar ($9.95)

They have some unique items on the menu, too, like the Cajun Crawdad Tails appetizer for $4.95. (Haven’t tried them.) Their homemade potato chips are a specialty; but, I actually like the potato wedges better.
If you go on a Friday or Saturday night, you might want to call ahead for reservations, especially if you want to sit in the bar.
